The Universal Service Fund (USF) has awarded a contract worth PKR 92 Million to Jazz to provide high-speed broadband in Kurram Lot (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa). The Federal Secretary for IT, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui inaugurated the Next Generation Broadband for the Sustainable Development project in Kurram (Tehsils of FR Kurram, Lower Kurram and Upper Kurram) at a ceremony held at Ministry of IT & Telecom on Monday. As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads across Pakistan, the health system is increasingly under pressure. One of the biggest issues being faced is the limited availability of free of cost testing for the destitute population. Realizing this as an urgent need, Jazz has donated PKR 8 million to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC), which shall fund 1000 COVID-19 tests. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) recently released the results of its quarterly Quality of Service (QoS) survey for the 3rd quarter of 2019. This survey was conducted jointly with Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs) in four cities of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan – between July 2019 and September 2019. The services were tested using NEMO automated QoS tool. As per the results of this survey, Jazz maintained its position as Pakistan’s fastest 4G network. This was distinguished through the performance of data services by measuring User Data Throughput and Signal Strength as Key Performance Indicators.

This contract has been awarded under the Broadband for Sustainable Development Project in South Waziristan.
