Davos, Switzerland – 25 January 2018: H.E. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the Prime Minister of Pakistan met Jean-Yves Charlier, CEO of VEON (operating as Jazz in Pakistan) at the World Economic Forum (WEF). Ms. Anusha Rehman Khan, Minister of State for Information Technology and Mr. Ali Jehangir Siddiqui, Special Assistant to PM were also present.
The Prime Minister appreciated VEON’s investment, performance and sustainable activities in Pakistan including mobile learning and relief efforts during natural disasters. He also acknowledged VEON’s investment in the training and development of its workforce and thanked them for creating employment opportunities to many Pakistanis.
Mr. Charlier thanked the Prime Minister for facilitating VEON’s operations in Pakistan. He added that Veon endorses the digital vision of the present government and will continue to support it through innovative solutions. He reiterated VEON and Jazz’s commitment to providing the best connectivity and internet experience to consumers.
VEON (Jazz) is Pakistan’s largest telecom service provider. The company has invested over 5 billion dollars in Pakistan to date.
